Data Governance Consultant

About the role

Command Post is looking for an experienced Data Governance Consultant to join a major client engagement in Doha. The role focuses on translating data governance policies into practical, measurable business outcomes, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Purview enablement and data lineage implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and enhance data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models aligned with organisational objectives.
• Define accountability for Data Owners, Stewards and Custodians, including RACI matrices and governance forums.
• Maintain business glossaries, metadata standards, critical data elements and authoritative source definitions.
• Document end‑to‑end data lineage across applications, databases, reporting systems and third‑party integrations.
• Configure and manage Microsoft Purview capabilities such as Data Map, catalog, classifications, sensitivity labels and lineage.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to validate automated lineage and address metadata gaps.
• Define data quality rules, KPIs and controls; monitor issues and drive remediation.
• Support data classification, retention, privacy and access control in coordination with security and legal teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in data governance, metadata management or data quality.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Purview or a comparable enterprise data catalog platform.
• Demonstrated ability to work with data owners, architects, engineers and senior stakeholders in a client‑facing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
