Director of Finance

About the role

Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to serve as its Director of Finance. Reporting to the COO, the role oversees all financial functions and ensures alignment with the university’s mission and Qatar Foundation agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee execution of GU‑Q’s financial management strategy in partnership with the COO.
• Manage general accounting, payroll, procurement, treasury operations and student financial services.
• Coordinate fiscal reporting, audits and budgeting activities, including annual and 5‑year financial plans.
• Provide leadership in policy formulation, contract negotiations and asset‑liability management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; Master’s preferred; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a large higher‑education institution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse staff and improve internal controls.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, FASB and GASB standards.
• Understanding of process improvement and security best practices.
• Familiarity with accounting and financial information system technology, including web‑based applications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
