Electrical Engineer for U.S. Embassy Project

About the role

The Electrical Engineer will support the design‑build construction of the new U.S. Embassy compound in Doha, Qatar. This 18‑month fixed‑term position involves on‑site technical inspections, quality assurance, and coordination with contractors to ensure compliance with contract documents and international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections of electrical work, monitor contractor quality‑control programs, and review project drawings and specifications for compliance.
• Observe on‑site construction, verify proper installation of electrical elements, and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed.
• Review contractor submittals, evaluate proposed substitutions, and prepare responses to RFIs and Requests for Equitable Adjustment.
• Monitor construction progress against schedule, submit weekly progress reports, and develop monthly status summaries for the Project Director.
• Coordinate Independent Government Estimates for modifications and change orders, and assist OBO/Doha in meeting contract requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or PE license) from an accredited program.
• Minimum seven (7) years of on‑site vertical construction experience; design office experience does not count.
• Final Secret, Interim Top Secret, or Final Top Secret security clearance at time of consideration.
• Overseas construction experience preferred and ability to read and interpret design drawings, narratives, and calculations.

Required skills

• Experience with high‑voltage and low‑voltage electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of telephone and fire‑alarm systems.
• Familiarity with International Codes applicable to embassy construction.
• Ability to review engineering shop drawings and verify compliance with final design parameters.
