Engineer I – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Engineer I provides essential maintenance support for guest rooms and hotel facilities at The St. Regis Residence in Doha. The role involves responding to repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room assets, including cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspections.
• Identify, locate, and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and document daily activities for shift handovers.
• Execute surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and complete clean‑up of work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing, electrical components, HVAC filters, lighting, and guestroom items.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Perform interior and exterior landscaping repairs, including sprinkler maintenance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting; hotel engineering experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb unassisted and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and navigating stairs.
• Professional appearance, confidentiality, and adherence to safety policies.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Plumbing repair (e.g., unclogging drains, toilet plunging).
• Pneumatic/electronic systems and controls.
• Carpentry, finish work, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
• Basic computer skills for inputting air‑handler schedules and temperature changes.
