Engineering Lead (Piping)

About the role

Airswift, an international workforce solutions provider in the energy, process and infrastructure sectors, is recruiting an Engineering Lead (Piping) to work in Qatar with a major Oil & Gas company. The role leads the contractor's work on the compression offshore facilities layout and piping design, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operation of the onshore assets in line with policies, procedures, instructions and schedule targets.

Key responsibilities

• Layout: ensure safety and compliance with industry standards when designing piping systems for offshore environments
• Layout: communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders so project goals stay aligned
• Layout: understand the requirements of greenfield versus brownfield layouts, taking operational fundamentals into account
• Layout: use 3D modelling to visualise the piping system and layout, keeping it clash-free and practical for construction
• Materials: address corrosion and material degradation by selecting corrosion-resistant materials and protective coatings, considering chemicals, temperature and humidity
• Materials: balance cost, performance, longevity, ease of fabrication and maintenance when choosing materials
• Stress analysis: understand its importance for safety and integrity, covering thermal expansion, dynamic loading, pressure and temperature
• Stress analysis: use stress analysis software to simulate piping behaviour under load, identify weak points and optimise the design

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum eight years of overall experience in an industry or discipline, offshore, with mandatory knowledge of layout
• Five years of Brownfield experience in piping layout and design
