Head of Early Years

About the role

Nord Anglia Education is recruiting a Head of Early Years to lead the Early Years provision at Etqan Global Academy in Doha. The role focuses on delivering the IB PYP Early Years framework in a joyful, safe and inquiry‑based environment, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the Early Years programme, modelling outstanding practice and setting high standards.
• Ensure high‑quality implementation of the IB PYP Early Years framework across the unit.
• Develop a play‑based, child‑initiated learning environment that nurtures curiosity and independence.
• Mentor and develop the Early Years teaching team through coaching, learning walks and CPD.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and families through regular communication and engagement events.
• Oversee assessment, observation and reporting, including learning portfolio documentation.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of provision, driving continuous improvement.
• Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection requirements at all times.

Required profile

• Recognised Early Years or primary teaching qualification.
• Significant experience in an Early Years leadership role, preferably within an IB or international school.
• Strong knowledge of the IB PYP Early Years framework and play‑based, inquiry‑led pedagogy.
• Deep understanding of child development and child‑initiated learning approaches.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build partnerships with parents.
• Commitment to safeguarding, child welfare and inclusive practice.
