About the role
An experienced Instrument & Fire & Gas (F&G) Engineering Specialist is sought to provide technical leadership and engineering support across EPC, commissioning, startup and handover phases of major Oil & Gas projects in Qatar. The role ensures that instrumentation and F&G systems are designed, commissioned and operated to the highest standards of safety, reliability, maintainability, cybersecurity and operational excellence, working closely with project teams, operations, EPC contractors, vendors and consultants.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design reviews including HAZOP studies, SIL assessments and verification, SIL workshops, functional safety reviews and technical risk assessments.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis and performance optimisation of instrumentation and safety systems, and review engineering deliverables against company standards and industry codes.
- Develop surveillance and maintenance programmes for critical systems and drive improvements in reliability, availability, maintainability and cybersecurity.
- Support high-risk commissioning and startup, conduct system readiness reviews and advise Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants and vendors, manage technical issue registers and supervise contractors and service providers.
- Mentor junior engineers, develop engineering best practices and standards, and contribute to division KPIs.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical or Process Industries.
- Proven experience supporting EPC projects, commissioning, startup and facility operations.
- Strong understanding of functional safety and process control systems.
Required skills
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and Fire & Gas systems.
- SIL requirements and functional safety standards.
- Anti-surge, metering, turbine and compressor control systems.
- Software: Microsoft Office, SAP, CONVAL, InstruCal or equivalent.
