Lead Finance Officer - Tax Strategy & Planning

About the role

Responsible for effective tax planning to reduce tax risks and ensure full compliance with tax laws for countries where Qatar Airways operates. The role involves tracking tax treaties, timely payment of liabilities, and maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure optimal delivery of direct and indirect tax compliance in destination countries by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage timely payment of tax liabilities and compliance with Qatar’s tax regulations, including withholding tax.
• Assist finance management with tax planning advice based on regulatory changes.
• Research and negotiate tax treaties through the Qatar Ministry of Finance.
• Coordinate appointment of tax advisors and auditors for branches.
• Research tax laws in jurisdictions and propose optimisation methods.
• Maintain confidentiality and minimal disclosure of company information.
• Support registration decisions for new offices to optimise tax liability.
• Prepare financial extracts for tax compliance activities.
• Ensure compliance with global transfer pricing policy and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in internal tax, including direct and indirect tax.
• Experience in a Big4 firm or large corporation with international tax exposure.
• User‑level experience with an ERP system.
