Legal Counsel – Financial Services

About the role

The Legal Counsel will provide proactive, independent legal advice across regulatory, corporate, commercial, policy and company secretarial matters for our organization and its affiliated entities. You will act as a trusted business partner, supporting various departments to achieve their strategic objectives while leading strategic legal projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive legal services covering regulatory, corporate, commercial, policy and secretarial issues.
• Draft, review and update the organization’s regulations, rules, manuals, policies and procedures.
• Advise on the creation and regulation of corporate structures.
• Prepare and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and related documents.
• Lead or participate in internal and external regulatory investigations.
• Engage with state entities to advocate policy positions and resolve strategic challenges.
• Oversee external counsel, ensuring cost‑effective delivery of legal services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputable university in a common‑law jurisdiction.
• Admission to the Law Society (or equivalent) of a common‑law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a reputable international law firm and/or in‑house legal team advising on financial services, regulated activities, finance‑related regulation and policy development.
• Post‑graduate studies or financial‑services qualifications are an advantage.
