Machinist - Engineering & CWS Central Repair Shop

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring a full-time Machinist for its Engineering & CWS Central Repair Shop in Doha, within the oil and gas sector. The machinist operates conventional machines and manufactures, repairs and reconditions mechanical components according to drawings and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate conventional lathes, milling, drilling, boring, grinding and shaping machines.
• Machine shafts, bushes, sleeves, pins, rollers, flanges, threads and keyways.
• Set up machines, cutting tools, fixtures, speeds and feeds.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, tolerances and material specifications.
• Measure parts with micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges and bore gauges, and inspect raw materials and finished components.
• Perform turning, facing, threading, tapering, boring, drilling, reaming and surface finishing, and correct dimensional defects.
• Maintain machines, tools and accessories, keep records and follow safety and housekeeping procedures.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma, ITI or recognized trade certificate in Machining, Mechanical Engineering or Tool and Die Making.
• At least 3 years of machining experience in a steel plant, manufacturing facility, machine shop or heavy industry.
• Practical experience with conventional lathes, milling, drilling, boring and grinding machines.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments.
• English communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Physically fit for a heavy industrial workshop environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, materials, tolerances, fits, feeds and speeds.
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance, lubrication, tool setting and equipment inspection.
• Workshop safety, machine guarding, PPE, lifting and housekeeping.
