Mechanical Sampler

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring a full-time Mechanical Sampler in Doha within the oil and gas sector. The role covers collecting and preparing samples from production, import and export operations, and performing basic size distribution and physical tests on the samples.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a car safely, obey traffic laws and road signs, maintain a safe speed, avoid distractions such as mobile phones, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and give way to heavy vehicles such as slag dumpers.
• Collect and prepare samples during production processes (DR, lime and RBQ), import of raw materials (oxide, limestone, dolomite and ferro alloys) and export of finished products (DRI, HBI, lime products, EF&LF slag and steel billets).
• Collect and prepare samples of by-products such as DR slurry, mill scale, slag, DRI and HBI fines, DR dust and oxide fines.
• Use sampling equipment such as auto sampler, jaw crusher, riffler, pulverizer, shovel and cutting machine.
• Label export and import samples on collection bags with sample name, ship name, date and lot number, ensuring each sample represents the whole lot without bias.
• Carry out size distribution using sieves according to agreed specifications or contracts.
• Perform physical tests such as tumbler index, bulk density and moisture testing, record the results and reduce samples by coning and quartering or riffling, then crush and mill them for analysis.
• Clean all sampling and testing equipment after each use to avoid contamination.
• Report issues or abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor and hand over completed work to the reliever during shift change.

Required profile

• Secondary school certificate or 12th standard from a recognized institute.
• Valid light vehicle (manual) driving licence from Qatar, to be arranged within 4 to 6 months.
• At least 2 years of relevant laboratory work experience.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of sampling equipment, methods and procedures.
• Good knowledge of operating and safety procedures and standards.
