Mechanical Senior Supervisor - Typhoon Aircraft

About the role

The Mechanical Senior Supervisor is an experienced and skilled mechanical technician and supervisor who carries out detailed maintenance on the Typhoon aircraft or its components. The post holder must understand the approved technical data set well enough to supervise maintenance work in line with the organisation's regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and guide less experienced team members
• Carry out detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision on the Typhoon, ensuring work follows the approved technical information and work packages
• Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management, and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults
• Complete tasked maintenance such as ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectification, replacements and tests
• Maintain personal task authorizations and keep a personal log book; sign others' log books where appropriate within your trade and skills boundaries
• Supervise the team, ensure maintenance is scheduled, escalate issues and report impacts to the wider program
• Check that staff are competent and approved for their tasks, and develop team members through formal assessments (PDRs) and training sponsorship
• Support compliance with the MOE and Functionally Mandated Procedures, including oversight checks and control of tooling and test equipment
• As an approved designated assessor, handle authorisation and task competency approvals and check Pt 145 license application packs before submission

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years at Technician level before a Supervisor role, with breadth of experience shown in a log book
• Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent
• City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent
• Aircraft platform training (on aircraft required)
• Knowledge of aviation safety standards, safe operating practices and continuous improvement
• Personal compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies and procedures

Required skills

• In-depth product knowledge of the Typhoon and the trade
• Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures management training
• PDR training or experience
• Required courses: Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing, Typhoon Mechanical Trade 'Q', Leadership-Foundation, Human Factors-Standard, E&PW Awareness-Standard, ITAR Awareness-Standard
