Mechanical Technician - Power Generation & Desalination

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Technician in Doha to carry out hands-on maintenance on mechanical equipment in power generation and water desalination plants. The role covers preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance, and supports planned shutdowns and emergency repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment in power generation and water desalination plants.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes, heat exchangers and associated equipment.
• Maintain rotating and static equipment such as bearings, seals, couplings, piping systems and lubrication systems.
• Carry out equipment dismantling, installation, alignment, testing and commissioning.
• Support planned shutdowns, plant overhauls and emergency maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Record maintenance activities, inspection findings, spare-parts usage and equipment conditions.
• Follow Permit-to-Work, lockout/tagout, confined-space and other plant safety procedures, and comply with site quality and HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with operations, engineering and other maintenance teams, and keep tools, equipment and work areas tidy.

Required profile

• ITI, diploma or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in power generation, water desalination, oil and gas, petrochemical or heavy industrial plants.
• Strong experience with pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes, heat exchangers and piping systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of equipment alignment, bearing and seal replacement, lubrication and mechanical fitting.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, shutdowns and major plant overhauls.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, technical manuals and equipment specifications.
• Familiarity with PTW, LOTO, confined-space entry, toolbox talks and industrial HSE procedures.
• Good English communication and basic computer skills; previous Gulf, power plant or desalination plant experience preferred.
• Medically fit and able to work shifts and in demanding plant conditions.
