NSMP Club and Federation Doctor

About the role

Aspetar is recruiting a Club and Federation Doctor for its National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP). The doctor provides primary care to registered athletes in sports clubs and federations, following Aspetar-approved clinical practice guidelines, and covers national and international sporting events. The role sits within the clinic and works closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, treat and follow up athletes of any age, professional or amateur, and diagnose, treat and prevent sports-related injuries
• Support athletes' dietary patterns to maximise performance and prevent disease, and supervise long-term and immediate physical restoration
• Provide medical coverage for national and international events, including assigning clinic staff and ensuring WADA anti-doping compliance
• Maintain athlete records and statistics, communicate with club officials and technical staff, and recommend multidisciplinary care
• Take part in case review meetings, propose service improvements, mentor junior staff and prioritise the caseload
• Deliver CPR and first aid training to clinic staff, orient new staff and teach clinical education topics
• Keep up to date with sports medicine advances, evidence-based practice and patient safety, and complete annual mandatory training

Required profile

• MD degree in good standing with an unrestricted medical license
• 7-9 years of experience in sports medicine, including a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar position; previous experience in an elite setting is preferred
• Continuing medical education in sports medicine and membership in a sports medicine society
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, handle a demanding workload and safeguard the health and safety of athletes and colleagues
