Process Safety Engineer

About the role

The Process Safety Engineer will support the Head of Safety and Loss Prevention Senior Engineer in implementing and maintaining QAFCO's Process Safety Management (PSM) system. Working closely with operations and technical teams, the incumbent will lead and participate in a range of hazard analysis studies for new projects and existing assets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating Process Safety specifications, standards, and procedures.
• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies such as HAZOP, SIL, QRA, LOPA, FMEA, MHA/DHA, dispersion studies, and safety cases.
• Coordinate PSM activities across projects and operations, ensuring compliance with QAFCO’s occupational health, safety, environment, and quality management systems.
• Provide technical specifications for equipment procurement and evaluate supplier bids to meet safety requirements.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators, generate weekly and monthly PSM reports, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead investigations of process safety incidents and support the development of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering).
• Experience in process safety management within industrial or petrochemical environments.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory and industry standards related to process safety.
