Production Equipment Specialist – Media Production

About the role

The Production Equipment Specialist supports Northwestern University in Qatar’s media production facilities. Working primarily in the equipment cage and classrooms, the role ensures that cameras, lighting, audio‑video gear and related software are ready for faculty, students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily cage operations: inventory, check‑in/out, preparation, installation, repair and maintenance of cameras (Canon, RED, DSLR, GoPro), lighting (ARRI Skypanels, Aputure COB), ENG systems and other production gear.
• Provide in‑classroom training and technical assistance to faculty, students and guest lecturers, including support for Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Final Cut Studio.
• Maintain networked media computers, video servers, switchers and the WebCheckout ticketing system in collaboration with IT staff.
• Perform minor equipment repairs, assess damage, coordinate external service, and track invoices and fines.
• Evaluate new technologies, create workflows, documentation and user guides, and recommend integrations for NU‑Q programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in production, media technology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of professional media production experience, with hands‑on camera, lighting and editing work.
• Previous teaching or training experience in a formal or in‑house setting.
• Ability to lift and install equipment up to 20 kg and to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
