Resident Engineer – Material Handling Systems for Airport Projects

About the role

The Resident Engineer (MHS) provides on‑site engineering supervision and technical oversight for Material Handling System works on large, complex airport cargo facilities. The role ensures installations meet drawings, specifications, quality standards, schedules and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise MHS installation, equipment positioning, conveyor systems and associated mechanical, electrical and control interfaces.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, method statements and inspection/test plans.
• Coordinate MHS works with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, ICT and security systems.
• Verify compliance with designs, specifications, quality standards and contractual requirements.
• Monitor progress, workmanship, equipment alignment and interface coordination.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, installation discrepancies and site constraints.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants and airport stakeholders.
• Oversee testing, system integration, commissioning and performance verification.
• Review inspection reports, NCRs and corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records, progress reports and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline.
• Membership of APM or similar project management institution.
• Minimum 15 years experience in large building projects, preferably cargo facilities.
• At least 10 years experience on major international airport projects involving cargo terminals and material handling systems.
• Proven construction supervision and engineering oversight of MHS.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, baggage or cargo handling equipment and automated material handling systems.
• Experience reviewing technical submissions, shop drawings, installation procedures and commissioning documentation.
• Excellent leadership, coordination, communication and technical reporting skills.
