Scrap Conductor

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring a full-time Scrap Conductor in Doha within its oil and gas sector. The role covers scrap segregation and supply, additive supply to the EAF/LAF, and slag pot handling, following operating procedures and HIRA.

Key responsibilities

• Segregate nonferrous, airtight, non-standard scrap and keep a stock of 2 to 3 charges in advance; follow HIRA and operating procedures for scrap loading onto dump trucks.
• Coordinate with equipment operators, pulpit operators, truck scale operators and shift in charge for uninterrupted scrap supply and prevent unauthorized dumping.
• Receive additive requirements for EAF/LAF, check them against equipment and conveying systems, and ensure the right material goes to the right hoppers.
• Coordinate with nominated dump trucks and wheel loaders on additive supply and weighing at the truck scale.
• Operate lime storage silos to supply and receive limp lime / dolo lime, coordinate with the lime calcined plant, and prepare bagged material at the alloy pit so no foreign material mixes in.
• Coordinate with the EAF shift in charge to start conveyors for charging requested materials.
• Follow operating procedures and HIRA for slag pot changing, maintain the slag pot cycle and temperature, and inspect loaded slag pots after lifting.
• Maintain the slag pit floor, assist the slag pot carrier operator in safe placement and removal, and coordinate with the EAF control room or shift in charge on emergencies and abnormal slag pots.

Required profile

• Higher secondary school, technical diploma or certification, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience at a steel plant in scrap handling, slag handling and ferroalloy handling.
• Qualified rigger with a third-party certificate.
• Certified for handling and inspection of hazardous scrap materials.

Required skills

• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• English reading and writing.
