Senior Construction Engineer - Piping & Civil Works

About the role

A Senior Construction Engineer is needed in Raslaffan, Doha to oversee civil construction and piping modification work on improvement projects across facilities. The role plans, coordinates and supervises onshore construction and modification works, working closely with contractors and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee timely and effective execution of civil construction and piping modification work in line with project specifications, policies, method statements and schedules.
• Plan and coordinate site activities and resources for piping, civil, structural, finishing, concrete/steel structures, excavations, backfilling, dewatering, rebar, formworks and concreting.
• Estimate man-hour requirements, plan work schedules, assign and direct subordinates, and attend the site during assigned tasks.
• Coordinate with main and primary contractors and subcontractors, allocate work, hold pre-task safety talks and monitor progress.
• Review problems affecting the schedule with the Civil Engineer and resolve them through technicians.
• Prepare and review method statements, work instructions, material approval requests and risk mitigation procedures before approval.
• Monitor QA/QC of contractor work against company standards, attend stage-wise RFIs and give clearance.
• Take part in site progress meetings, raise technical and constructability issues with the Line Manager and contractors, and liaise with operations and maintenance planning, including plant shutdowns.
• Report weekly progress, resource needs, drawing availability, schedule look-ahead and any delays or deviations to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution or university.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in piping and civil engineering in a large manufacturing facility in the oil and gas sector.
• Additional technical or management qualifications or certifications in onshore construction and piping are an advantage.
