Safety Officer - Architectural & Construction Sites

About the role

An experienced and certified Safety Officer is sought to manage health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards across ongoing architectural, interior fit-out and construction sites in Qatar. The role ensures full compliance with Qatari safety laws, client policies and international HSE standards to maintain zero-harm worksites.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety inspections across assigned sites to identify hazards, unsafe acts and non-compliance.
• Enforce company safety policies, QAFAM/QCS standards and local Qatari labour and environmental regulations.
• Assist in drafting Method Statements, Risk Assessments (RAMS), Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and issue work permits (PTW) for hot works, scaffolding, confined spaces and height works.
• Lead daily safety briefings (toolbox talks) and run site inductions for subcontractors, site engineers and labourers.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses and property damage incidents, producing root-cause reports and corrective action plans.
• Oversee first aid, fire safety, emergency evacuation drills and PPE compliance.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related field.
• NEBOSH certification is mandatory; IOSH Managing Safely or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certificate preferred.
• Valid First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
• Minimum 3 to 5+ years of direct experience as a Safety Officer on civil construction, building or luxury interior fit-out projects in Qatar/GCC.
• Valid Qatar driving licence is mandatory.
• Fluent English (spoken and written); basic Arabic or Hindi/Urdu is an advantage.
• Valid Qatar ID (QID) with transferable visa / NOC preferred.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Qatari Construction Standards (QCS) and MADLSA regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication and reporting skills.
