Senior Counsel – Shipping

About the role
Provide legal support for QatarEnergy’s ship acquisitions and marine transportation activities related to the commercialization of LNG, crude and other liquid petroleum products, petrochemicals, chemicals and fertilizers.
Key responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft agreements for acquisition and disposal of shipping capacity, including sale and purchase agreements, shipbuilding contracts, charter agreements (time, voyage and bareboat), contracts of affreightment and container feedering contracts.
- Handle vessel financing arrangements and any ancillary services required.
- Administer all agreements and manage related claims and disputes, including price and charter rate reviews.
- Support QatarEnergy’s LNG Marketing, Trading, and Marketing & Trading client groups on shipping matters.
Required profile
- 10+ years of experience in private practice or in‑house, with a substantial portion focused on shipping activities.
- Strong legal drafting skills.
- Experience dealing with regulators and government representatives.
