Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Computer Science

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Computer Science to join Oryx University’s College of Computing and Data Science in Doha, Qatar. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate modules, mentor students, and support the continuous improvement of our computing programmes delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and assess undergraduate modules in computer science, software engineering and related areas.
• Develop and update teaching materials in line with current academic and industry developments.
• Design, validate and enhance academic programmes and prepare assessments according to LJMU regulations.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and provide academic mentoring.
• Engage in research and scholarly activities aligned with the university’s strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with industry partners and advisory boards to keep programmes relevant.
• Contribute to continuing professional development courses and short‑term programmes.
• Participate in academic committees, departmental meetings and institutional initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proven teaching and research experience at university level.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality teaching and student success.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
