Senior Legal Officer

About the role

Media City Qatar is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Officer to join its Legal Affairs & Contracts Department. The role involves providing high‑level legal, contractual, regulatory and compliance support across the organisation, handling complex and strategically significant matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead drafting, review and negotiation of complex commercial, media, licensing, sponsorship and technology agreements.
• Provide legal advice on contractual risk, regulatory requirements, governance and legal structuring.
• Conduct legal research on Qatari laws, prepare opinions, memoranda and management briefings.
• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives, including gap assessments and policy development.
• Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, ensuring legal, commercial and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks, and advise on appropriate strategies.
• Handle contractual breaches, claims, disputes and investigations, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Conduct due‑diligence on significant counterparties, projects and transactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognised university.
• Admission to practice law or membership of a recognised Bar Association (preferred/required).
• 6–8 years of post‑qualification legal experience, primarily in commercial and contract law.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
• Experience in media, broadcasting, digital media, technology or telecommunications is highly desirable.
• Background in regulatory compliance, corporate governance and dispute support.
• Experience with international or cross‑border transactions is an advantage.
• LLM or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
