Senior Planner - Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Wood is recruiting a Senior Planner for its Doha office, a key role covering study, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work. The office serves both brownfield and greenfield opportunities, so multi-skilled personnel with experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas are sought. The Senior Planner prepares, reviews and reports accurate project schedules and plans, and drives continuous improvement in the Planning team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop the Planning team, project schedules and plans, and prepare and file planning documentation
• Act as planning focal point for specific project scopes, either alone or within a team
• Maintain planning control structures aligned with the approved Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Review and maintain baseline plans and schedules, and monitor and control planning activities across the project lifecycle
• Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions and third parties on project status, schedule and manpower impact
• Issue project plans, schedules, progress and performance reports, and update them and manpower requirements
• Assess the schedule impact of change notifications and work with cost discipline on man-hour budget control and change request impacts
• Take part in schedule risk analysis, Project Controls compliance and continuous improvement reviews, and mentor Planning personnel

Required profile

• ISCED level 6 degree (bachelor's) in a relevant technical or business discipline, or equivalent vocational training and/or experience
• Minimum 10 years of relevant scheduling/planning experience
• Previous experience in a senior planning role
• Experience in a small project office supporting cross-discipline activities
• Willingness to represent Wood in onshore and offshore surveys, with relevant certification or willingness to undergo training such as BOSIET and H2S Awareness
• Good written and spoken English

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Primavera and other scheduling software, including logic and CPM analysis, resource loading and levelling
• Advanced knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Scheduling, WBS and CBS structures, and earned value, cost and schedule variance analysis
• Understanding of project management, cost management, change control, planning and risk analysis
