Staff Scientist – Assistant Level (Bioinformatics)

About the role

The Staff Scientist – Assistant Level (Bioinformatics) will support research programs at Sidra Medicine, conducting moderately complex experiments, analyzing multi‑omics data, and developing AI‑driven predictive models to improve patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments involving whole‑exome, whole‑genome, RNA‑seq, single‑cell, ChIP‑seq, methylation, miRNA‑seq, metabolomic and proteomic data.
• Analyze large‑scale datasets from public repositories (TCGA, GEO, TCIA, cBioPortal) and develop pipelines for feature extraction.
• Apply statistical methods and data visualization using Python and R.
• Develop and implement AI/ML algorithms for clinical prediction and multi‑modal data integration.
• Prepare research findings for journal publication and present results at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Bioinformatics with successful completion of a post‑doctoral fellowship.
• Strong publication record and ability to draft manuscripts.
• Experience in rare disease genetics and pathogenic variant identification.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Required skills

• Python, R for statistical analysis and data visualization.
• Multi‑omics data analysis (WES, WGS, RNA‑seq, single‑cell RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, proteomics).
• AI and machine learning methods for clinical prediction.
• Microsoft Office suite.
