Textile Engineer

About the role

The Textile Engineer will evaluate textile materials, conduct fabric testing, ensure quality assurance, and provide technical support for textile and garment manufacturing. The role supports product development, resolves technical issues, and drives improvements in product quality and production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and select fabrics, trims, and accessories based on specifications and end‑use requirements.
• Analyze fabric properties such as fiber composition, yarn characteristics, weave/knit structures, weight, shrinkage, colorfastness, durability, and dimensional stability.
• Support product development, sampling, material approvals, and technical specifications.
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct fabric inspections, identify defects, investigate quality issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, design, production, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Review laboratory test reports and ensure materials meet customer and industry standards.
• Maintain technical documentation, testing records, material specifications, and quality reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in textile manufacturing, apparel, garment production, fabric development, or quality assurance.
• Practical experience in fabric evaluation, testing, material selection, and quality control.
• Experience with uniform manufacturing, technical or military apparel is an advantage.
• Familiarity with international buyers and technical fabric specifications preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of textile fibers, yarns, woven and knitted fabrics, dyeing, finishing, and fabric treatments.
• Proficiency in fabric testing methods (tensile strength, abrasion resistance, pilling, shrinkage, colorfastness, dimensional stability).
• Understanding of ISO, AATCC, ASTM textile testing standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, laboratory reports, and material datasheets.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP is a plus.
