Assistant Project Manager - Automation Projects

About the role

Avanceon is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for its Projects Division at the Qatar office. This is a developmental role leading toward full Project Manager responsibilities, with exposure to complex automation systems, customer engagement and international project standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in preparing execution plans, schedules and progress reports using Avanceon's project control templates
• Coordinate between Engineering, SCM, Finance, QA/QC and Site departments, and track milestones, material deliveries and resource mobilization
• Maintain project dashboards and status trackers according to PMO reporting standards
• Assist in preparing or reviewing system architecture diagrams, control philosophies, I/O lists, FAT/SAT protocols and submittals
• Support FAT/SAT documentation and punch-list closure, and manage document transmittals
• Monitor cost sheets, billing milestones and subcontractor claims, and support variation orders and change requests
• Take part in client meetings, document minutes and coordinate with site teams on installation, testing and commissioning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Control Systems Engineering
• 10-12 years of experience in industrial automation or control system projects, ideally in a system integrator or EPC environment (4-5 years in the Middle East)
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Water or Manufacturing is a strong advantage

Required skills

• Solid understanding of PLC and SCADA systems (Siemens PCS7, S7-400/1500, WinCC preferred)
• Ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams and control system drawings
• MS Project, Excel and project reporting tools
