Capital Gains Tax Valuation Expert

About the role

The Capital Gains Tax Valuation Expert will lead accurate, policy‑aligned valuations of assets and liabilities involved in complex corporate transactions such as restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and related‑party dealings. This senior position requires deep accounting expertise and thorough knowledge of Qatari and international tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct valuations using Market, Income (Revenue) and Cost approaches for corporate restructurings, M&A and related‑party transactions.
• Assess capital gains and losses for tax assessments, audits and dispute resolution.
• Apply Qatari Income Tax Law (Article 3 of Law No. 24 of 2018, Articles 5 and 16 of the Executive Regulations) and OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
• Collaborate with legal, finance and audit teams to ensure compliance with IFRS 13, IFRS 3 and IAS 36.
• Prepare detailed valuation reports and support regulatory filings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years tax auditing experience, including at least 5 years in a government tax authority or similar regulator.
• Proven expertise in asset and liability valuation using internationally recognized methods.
• In‑depth knowledge of Qatari Income Tax Law and familiarity with GCC tax regimes.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and excellent English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), especially IFRS 13, IFRS 3, IAS 36.
• Valuation methodologies: Market Approach, Income Approach, Cost Approach.
• Tax auditing and capital gains evaluation.
• Qatari Income Tax Law and OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
