Chef-Head

About the role

The St. Regis Residence in Marsa Arabia Island, Doha, is looking for a full-time Chef-Head (management position). The role is accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations, personally performing culinary tasks while leading the staff and managing all food-related functions. It works to improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget, supervises all kitchen areas and guides and develops staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook foods regularly and for special guests or events, and create new menus and recipes
• Ensure food handling, sanitation, safety standards and brand safety standards are met, and comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Supervise kitchen shifts, manage day-to-day operations and estimate daily production needs
• Maintain purchasing, receiving, food storage and portion and waste control standards, and develop environmentally friendly processes
• Lead cooks and workers, manage employees, schedule them and track attendance, and coach and mentor staff
• Manage budgets, operating statements and payroll reports, order uniforms and review staffing levels
• Handle guest complaints, provide feedback and coaching, and train staff on menu items and preparation methods

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major
• 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage or a related field, or 2 years with a degree
