Electrical Design Engineer – Building Projects (UPDA Certified)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for building projects in Qatar. The role involves delivering compliant, efficient and sustainable solutions while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare electrical calculations and drawings, including load calculations, lighting design, power distribution, earthing & lightning protection, and single line diagrams.
• Design ELV systems such as fire alarm, data, CCTV and access control.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural and MEP disciplines, resolve design clashes using BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and review design deliverables.
• Manage submissions and obtain approvals from Qatar authorities (Kahramaa, Civil Defence) ensuring compliance with QCS and local regulations.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals and technical documents; prepare design reports, specifications and BOQs.
• Provide technical support during construction, respond to RFIs, and participate in testing and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience, with Qatar consultancy background.
• UPDA/MMUP certification (mandatory).
• Experience in residential, commercial or mixed‑use building projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Dialux/Relux and ETAP.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, BS and NFPA electrical design standards.
• Familiarity with Qatar authority regulations and QCS.
