Equipment Operator - Airside Sweeping and Vehicle Transport

About the role

This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of mechanical sweeping equipment and for providing transportation services using company vehicles to deliver materials. It also requires operating airside heavy goods vehicles. The job is based in Doha, Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty mechanical sweepers in airside and aircraft manoeuvring areas to remove foreign object debris and ensure safe aircraft movements.
• Carry out daily pre-use and post-use visual inspections of heavy vehicles and equipment, and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Operate heavy-duty water tankers, light-duty sweepers and other equipment as needed to meet airport operational requirements.
• Transport staff and materials to and from specified destinations in support of daily maintenance operations.
• Perform visual inspections of vehicles and equipment according to Motor Transport Section guidelines to ensure roadworthiness.
• Notify the supervisor of current or anticipated repair needs through radio, telephone, daily shift reports or direct reporting so maintenance is carried out promptly.
• Maintain daily records of sweeping area information and vehicle/equipment usage.
• Respond to operational requests within required timeframes to meet departmental KPIs and SLAs, and perform other duties directed by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• High school qualification with at least 1 year of job-related experience; primary level education with the ability to speak and write in English.
• Valid Qatar driving licence or an equivalent valid GCC Heavy Goods Vehicle licence.
• Airside Vehicle Operation Permit and Category Airside Licence and Manoeuvring Area Driver Competency Licence, to be obtained after employment.
• Preferred: basic knowledge of written and spoken Arabic, knowledge of the Doha road network, and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.

• Good driving skills, sense of direction and awareness of traffic regulations.
• Ability to operate and handle heavy vehicles satisfactorily.
• Observant and attentive during routine inspections, with a responsible attitude and good physical fitness.
• Well-versed in airside safety requirements and committed to attending safety training programmes.
