GIS Solutions Engineer

About the role

Ideal Solutions is seeking a GIS Solutions Engineer to design, develop and deliver innovative geospatial solutions that turn spatial data into business value. This hands‑on technical role combines GIS engineering expertise with software development, system integration and client‑facing consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure and deploy enterprise GIS solutions using Esri and open‑source technologies.
• Build and support web, desktop and mobile GIS applications, dashboards and geoprocessing tools.
• Develop and maintain spatial databases, geospatial services, APIs and system integrations.
• Perform spatial analysis, data transformation, validation and quality assurance.
• Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, asset management and BI solutions.
• Lead technical implementation from requirements gathering through deployment and support.
• Prepare technical proposals, solution architectures, demonstrations and proof‑of‑concepts.
• Conduct client consultations, workshops, presentations and training.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in GIS solution engineering, geospatial application development or enterprise GIS implementation.
• Hands‑on experience with both Esri and open‑source GIS technologies.
• Professional proficiency in English; Arabic bilingual capability is highly preferred.
• Experience in Qatar or the GCC, especially in government, utilities, transportation, oil & gas or smart‑city projects, is an advantage.

• Web‑mapping frameworks such as OpenLayers or Leaflet.
• Python, ArcPy, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs.
• Spatial databases and GIS application development.
