Principal Data Architect

About the role

Capco is seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise data architectures for complex transformation programmes in the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Define target-state architectures, data models, domain structures and integration patterns aligned with business objectives and enterprise standards.
• Design scalable data platforms using technologies such as Snowflake, dbt and cloud‑native services, focusing on performance, security and cost efficiency.
• Architect modular, microservices‑based solutions with REST APIs, API gateways and modern ingestion patterns.
• Establish data modelling, naming conventions, semantic definitions and data management standards.
• Lead technical design reviews, assess risks and dependencies, and provide recommendations to ensure consistency.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in enterprise data architecture within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud data architectures.
• Proven ability to design data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines and microservices solutions.
• Deep understanding of data governance, metadata management, data security and architectural standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, especially with senior technical audiences.
