Group Senior Contracts and Commercial Director

About the role

The Group Senior Contracts and Commercial Director leads all contract and commercial activities across the organization, ensuring contracts are well‑negotiated, risks are managed and commercial strategies support growth. This senior position oversees a team, drives compliance with laws and company policies, and contributes to business development in a complex, large‑scale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiation, drafting and management of contracts ensuring legal compliance and commercial advantage.
• Monitor contract performance, manage KPIs, and resolve disputes or claims efficiently.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with corporate goals and conduct market research.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks across projects.
• Manage budgets, control costs and oversee financial reporting for contracts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies, applying standards such as FIDIC and QCS.
• Lead, mentor and develop the contracts and commercial team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of total experience with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
• Strong international commercial background, preferably with a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and professional chartership.
• Extensive experience in large‑scale commercial negotiations within the GCC, especially Qatar.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, financial performance and contract law matters.

Required skills

• Proficiency with FIDIC contract forms and other bespoke agreements.
• Knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS).
• Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
