Head of Department - Science, English and Mathematics

About the role

A school in Qatar is recruiting a Head of Department to lead the Science, English and Mathematics departments. The role covers strategic leadership, curriculum planning and teacher development, with a focus on raising teaching standards, supporting student achievement and meeting international academic benchmarks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the Science, English and Mathematics departments
• Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to improve student performance
• Mentor and support teachers so that instruction remains high quality across all subjects
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment methods and resource allocation
• Monitor student progress and use data-driven strategies to improve outcomes
• Foster a collaborative and professional culture within the teaching team
• Work with school leadership to align department goals with the school's vision

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject plus a teaching license
• A recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Strong background in curriculum planning, teacher development and assessment strategies
• Ability to motivate and lead a team of educators across multiple subjects
