Hospital Pharmacist

About the role

A healthcare team in Qatar is looking for a qualified and dedicated Hospital Pharmacist. The pharmacist ensures the safe, effective and appropriate use of medications, provides pharmaceutical care to patients and works with healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Review, verify and dispense prescriptions according to physician orders, hospital policies and regulations.
• Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed safely, accurately and on time.
• Check prescriptions for drug choice, dosage, frequency, route, allergies, contraindications and possible interactions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other professionals to optimise medication therapy.
• Monitor therapy and report adverse drug reactions, medication errors and drug-related problems.
• Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.
• Control storage, handling, inventory and availability of medicines, including controlled and high-alert drugs.
• Follow professional ethics, patient confidentiality and healthcare regulations; perform other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution.
• Valid clinical pharmacist licence.
• At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, medication safety and pharmaceutical care.
• Experience in prescription review, dispensing, patient counselling and medication management.
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy systems and electronic medical records.
• Preferred: acute care or tertiary hospital experience, clinical pharmacy, medication reconciliation and inpatient/outpatient pharmacy; Arabic-speaking candidates preferred; immediate joiners preferred.
