Licensed Practical Nurse

About the role

Sidra Medicine is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). LPNs deliver and organise basic nursing care to individuals, families and groups in diverse settings, working alongside other healthcare professionals. They mainly care for people with relatively stable and predictable health conditions, and refer patients to a licensed RN when the condition is not stable or changes critically.

Key responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services focused on promotion, maintenance and restoration of health, and prevention, treatment and palliation of illness and injury.
• Assess health status and plan, implement, evaluate and document practical nursing care.
• Administer basic medical care, basic comfort care and prescribed medications, and report adverse reactions to the physician or registered nurse.
• Collect samples for testing and perform routine laboratory tests, and assist physicians and registered nurses with tests and procedures.
• Monitor and clean medical equipment.
• Listen to patient concerns, explain procedures to patients' families and educate them on how to provide care.
• Work collaboratively with patients, families and the healthcare team, and follow hospital policies and Sidra's Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

Required profile

• Diploma in Practical Nursing (2 years) after high school, or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of work experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse; exceptions may be granted to Qatari nationals, with a possible reduction of up to 2 years.
• Registration with the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) and eligibility for a licence in the State of Qatar.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Required skills

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork.
