Inspector – Coating (Senior)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a senior Inspector – Coating to lead inspection and testing of coating and painting activities on oil & gas projects in Qatar. The role involves ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements while supporting training and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect surface preparation, painting and coating activities and verify environmental conditions before and during application.
• Conduct coating tests such as dry film thickness, wet film thickness, surface profile, adhesion, holiday/pinhole detection, and dew‑point/humidity checks.
• Review contractors' coating procedures, inspection reports and quality records, and ensure alignment with ITPs and relevant standards.
• Witness, document and report coating inspections, identify non‑conformities and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and project teams on coating quality issues while adhering to HSE requirements.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of senior inspection experience in the oil & gas sector.
• NACE Grade 2 (or equivalent) certification – mandatory.
• Familiarity with QatarEnergy specifications and offshore experience is preferred.
• Previous experience with oil & gas companies operating in Qatar.

Required skills

• Coating and painting inspection techniques.
• Dry film thickness (DFT) and wet film thickness (WFT) measurement.
• Surface profile and adhesion testing.
• Holiday/pinhole detection and dew‑point/humidity assessment.
• Use of inspection instruments and preparation of technical reports.
• Strong HSE awareness and compliance.
