IT Technician – Offshore Vessel

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Technician to join our offshore vessel crew. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the ship's network and satellite communications, ensuring reliable connectivity for both operations and crew welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and troubleshoot managed Wi‑Fi networks and LAN infrastructure across multiple decks in a steel‑hull environment.
• Assist the onshore IT team with installation, configuration, and optimization of computer hardware, network equipment, operating systems, and maritime‑specific applications.
• Oversee VSAT, Starlink, and TVRO media systems to guarantee high‑availability satellite connectivity.
• Monitor system performance proactively and enforce rigorous IT security policies.
• Provide crew orientation on new software, hardware, and acceptable use policies.
• Plan and execute upgrades and maintenance without disrupting vessel operations.
• Perform rapid root‑cause analysis for complex hardware, software, and network outages.
• Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, maintain hardware inventories, and ensure critical spares are stocked.
• Keep up‑to‑date documentation of network topology diagrams and system configurations.
• Collaborate with offshore teams as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, N+, Cisco CCNA.
• Extensive experience as an IT Technician in the Oil & Gas offshore vessel environment.
• Valid STCW/ILO Medical Certificate.
• Willingness to work on an 8‑weeks on / 8‑weeks off rotation schedule.
