Manager of Innovation & Compliance

About the role

The Manager of Innovation & Compliance leads the Innovation and Compliance function within Network Operations, ensuring that Al Jazeera’s live and pre/post‑production workflows meet the highest technical, editorial and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, this role shapes the operational vision and drives continuous improvement across studio and newsroom environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Innovation & Compliance teams, overseeing the Head of Innovation and Head of Compliance.
• Define and own the operational vision for studio, pre‑production and post‑production activities in partnership with editorial leadership.
• Establish, approve and govern policies, procedures and technical standards for studio operations, news gathering and media workflows.
• Monitor compliance with editorial standards, code of conduct, safety requirements and relevant regulatory obligations, addressing any gaps or breaches.
• Provide operational consultancy during projects, advising engineers and designers to align technical solutions with operational goals.
• Oversee planning and execution of studio changes, including set designs, graphics, new shows and workflow modifications.
• Ensure technical output meets the requirements of news and programme editorial teams and that channel‑specific look and format are achieved.
• Liaise with technology teams to guarantee proper functioning and monitoring of the full production chain, including studio automation.
• Lead workforce capability development, covering training, competency building, succession planning and documentation.
• Facilitate cross‑team problem solving and maintain effective bi‑directional communication.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in broadcast or media operations.
• Strong editorial and operational judgment with a collaborative, can‑do attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment.
