Marine Personnel Training & Career Development Specialist (Engine)

About the role

The Marine Personnel Training & Career Development Specialist (Engine) is responsible for overseeing the professional growth, certification compliance and career progression of seafarers across all ranks. This role ensures that training programmes, mentorship frameworks and promotion processes are aligned with STCW standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for all seafarer ranks and maintain a comprehensive training matrix covering STCW, company‑mandated and computer‑based training.
• Develop individual training plans, coordinate with internal departments and external providers, and monitor certification validity.
• Design and implement a cadet mentorship framework, track cadet progress and assess onboard training effectiveness.
• Create transparent career progression paths, manage promotion eligibility, waiting lists and stakeholder coordination.
• Oversee the performance appraisal cycle, consolidate scores, and support reward and recognition based on outcomes.
• Evaluate, approve and periodically review external training centres for STCW compliance and instructional quality.
• Conduct vessel visits to assess onboard training and lead the planning and execution of Fleet Officer Meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maritime personnel training, development or related HR functions.
• Strong knowledge of STCW regulations and company training standards.
• Excellent coordination skills with the ability to work across departments and with external training providers.
• Analytical mindset for tracking progress, managing promotion criteria and evaluating training centre performance.
