Mechanical Trade Lead – Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Mechanical Trade Lead is an experienced Mechanical Technician and Supervisor reporting to the Forward Deputy Maintenance Manager (FDMM). The role includes supervising maintenance personnel, ensuring regulatory compliance and deputising for the FDMM and Rectification Controllers when required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day Forward Maintenance Mechanical manpower, equipment and shift lists to meet the flying programme.
• Ensure all Mechanical trade personnel are trained, authorised and maintain currency, including HF, CoC and other mandated training.
• Monitor and report Mechanical TPRFs, facility standards, usage of approved data and conduct weekly quality checks.
• Act as the Mechanical trade point of contact for internal and external agencies and support strategic reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee compliance with Part 145 Exposition, safety management system, QAF governance and statutory regulations such as ITAR and ISO.

Required profile

• Minimum City & Guilds 2675/2661 or equivalent Aeronautical Engineering qualification.
• At least 2 years supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
• Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (military or civilian) and Typhoon Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course or equivalent.
• Valid driving licence and IT literacy.

Required skills

• Asset Management and coordination of aircraft and MWOs.
• Download/upload and resolution of PMDS data.
• Independent inspections and tow Typhoon operations.
• Assessment for general and trade‑specific authorisations.
• Knowledge of Human Factors, E&PW, ITAR awareness and safety management processes.
