Senior Inspector – Mechanical & Coating

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Senior Inspector to lead mechanical and coating inspection programmes for oil & gas clients. The role combines technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance to ensure projects meet international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mechanical inspections of equipment, vessels, piping systems and structural components according to ASME, API and ISO standards.
• Perform and oversee coating inspections, including surface preparation, application verification, DFT measurements, adhesion testing and visual assessment.
• Execute non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities such as ultrasonic thickness, radiography interpretation and other Level 2 methods.
• Document findings with photographs, technical reports and maintain traceability records.
• Review design drawings, material certificates, inspection plans and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory codes.
• Mentor junior inspectors, conduct witness inspections and coordinate with contractors and client representatives to resolve discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on inspection experience in the oil & gas sector.
• Current certifications: CSWIP 3.2.2, BGAS Grade 2, ASNT NDT Level 2 (minimum one method).
• Proven ability to lead inspection teams and manage complex projects.
• Field experience with pressure equipment, pipelines and structural systems.

Required skills

• Mechanical inspection techniques.
• Coating inspection standards (CSWIP 3.2.2, ISO 12944, ISO 3864).
• Non‑destructive testing methods – ultrasonic, radiography, DFT, adhesion testing.
• Knowledge of ASME, API (510, 570, 653) and ISO standards.
• Use of inspection software and digital reporting tools.
