Online University Tutor - Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Science

About the role

Qtutoring is recruiting tutors to deliver online, university-level lessons in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. Applicants currently based in Jordan and Egypt are particularly welcome, as are other qualified remote applicants who may specialise in one or more of the listed areas.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and small-group online lessons aligned with students' course outlines.
• Explain concepts clearly through worked examples, problem solving or live coding, as appropriate.
• Identify learning gaps and adapt lessons to students' needs.
• Prepare practice exercises, support exam revision and give constructive feedback.
• Use suitable digital teaching tools and track student progress.
• Maintain punctuality, confidentiality and academic integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or a closely related field; a master's degree or PhD is preferred.
• Demonstrated university-level teaching or tutoring experience; two or more years and online teaching experience are preferred.
• Strong spoken and written English; the ability to explain technical concepts in Arabic is an advantage.
• Reliable internet, a suitable computer, webcam, microphone and a quiet teaching environment.

Required skills

• Mathematics and Statistics: college algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus I and II, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability, introductory and business statistics, applied business mathematics; additional expertise in differential equations, multivariable calculus or numerical methods is welcome.
• Computer Science and IT: introductory and object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, database design and SQL, web development and software engineering fundamentals; additional expertise in operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, data science or introductory AI is welcome.
• Computing applicants should state their programming languages and tools, such as Python, Java, C++, SQL or JavaScript.
• Confidence with digital whiteboards, screen sharing and relevant software.
