Physiotherapy Assistant

About the role

Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital is hiring Physiotherapy Assistants. The role supports the physiotherapist in treating patients and athletes, following a designated treatment plan and helping with both individual and group exercises.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the physiotherapist's instructions to treat patients according to a treatment plan, using basic techniques such as assisting a patient to walk with an appropriate aid.
• Assist with individual and group treatments and exercises, recognising changes in a patient's condition and monitoring their response to treatment.
• Manage clinical risk within your caseload, ensuring patient safety and compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
• Carry out therapeutic handling and exercise programmes, and maintain equipment and report defects promptly.
• Keep accurate written records using Cerner charting, maintain stocks of walking aids and consumables, and help with cleaning, record keeping, filing and supplies.
• Induct assistants and students, attend meetings and case conferences, and liaise with colleagues and managers.
• Complete annual patient safety competencies, fire, manual handling and adult basic life support training.

Required profile

• Degree in Physiotherapy Assistant or a related training programme, or equivalent; professional certification is a plus.
• 5-7 years of clinical experience, of which at least 2-3 years in a similar position, preferably in a similar industry.
• Fulfilment of all licensing requirements.
• High proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic is a definite advantage.

• Good communication skills to motivate and persuade patients.
• Physical ability and dexterity for physiotherapy treatment.
