Principal Electrical Engineer – Onshore Oil & Gas

About the role

A leading EPC organization is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead onshore oil & gas projects in Qatar. The role spans the full project lifecycle – from PRE‑FEED through FEED to detailed design – and requires hands‑on technical leadership of large, complex facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Technical Authority for electrical engineering on onshore oil & gas projects.
• Lead the electrical discipline through PRE‑FEED, FEED and detailed design phases, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Review and approve all electrical deliverables, vendor documents, equipment specifications and datasheets.
• Support project execution teams to deliver safe, cost‑effective solutions while meeting IEC, IEEE, NEC, API and client standards.
• Participate in design, constructability, HAZID/HAZOP reviews and technical audits.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of electrical engineers and designers.
• Serve as the primary electrical interface with clients, vendors and third‑party consultants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Extensive onshore oil & gas experience, preferably in large‑scale facilities such as gas processing plants, refineries or terminals.
• Proven ability to act as a technical authority and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of international and local electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, API).

• Electrical equipment specification and sizing for large facilities.
• Hazardous‑area classification and electrical design for process plants.
• Earthing, bonding and lightning‑protection systems.
• Electrical integration with process units, utilities and infrastructure.
• Conducting design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies and technical audits.
