Principal Project Control Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Principal Project Control Engineer to lead cost and schedule control for large oil and gas projects in Qatar. The role involves ensuring project execution aligns with safety, quality, and financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main liaison with clients and contractors to report accurate costs and progress.
• Prepare planning support packages, manage the overall CTR budget, and oversee milestone payment plans.
• Produce weekly and monthly earned‑value reports, forecast budgets, and monitor schedule impacts.
• Develop and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure, cost control structures, and fully‑resourced Gantt charts.
• Identify critical‑path risks, issue change orders, and support risk analysis workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of oil and gas experience, primarily offshore downstream.
• Proven project controls experience in an engineering design environment.
• Previous work in the Middle East is advantageous.

Required skills

• Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
• Cost budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) for Gantt chart creation.
• Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development and maintenance.
• Change management and risk monitoring.
