Product Owner – Compliance & Operations

About the role

Wafir is a fintech platform that digitises community‑based savings and lending circles. We are seeking a Product Owner with strong compliance knowledge to lead the development and continuous improvement of our digital product, ensuring alignment with business goals, user needs, operational requirements and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the product roadmap in coordination with founders and the leadership team.
• Translate business, compliance and operational requirements into clear product features and user stories.
• Prioritise features based on business value, regulatory importance, user needs and technical feasibility.
• Collaborate closely with the development team to define, test and deliver features.
• Review and optimise app workflows and user journeys for usability, clarity and compliance.
• Monitor product performance and recommend improvements based on feedback and operational gaps.
• Ensure product features align with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including KYC, AML, risk classification and digital agreement flows.
• Document compliance‑related workflows, controls and audit trails, and prepare regulatory responses when needed.
• Map and improve internal processes for onboarding, circle management, payments, collections and customer support.

Required profile

• Experience in fintech or non‑banking financial services.
• Proven background in compliance processes such as KYC, AML and risk classification.
• Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into actionable product features and user stories.
• Strong collaboration skills with technology, operations, compliance advisors and regulators.
