Project Commissioning Manager

About the role

The Project Commissioning Manager oversees the commissioning of all systems, equipment and infrastructure for a project, leading the commissioning team so that everything is tested, operated and validated according to specifications and handed over fully operational. The role covers resource management, safety and regulatory compliance, and delivering commissioning milestones within the agreed timeline and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage commissioning strategies, plans and schedules aligned with project timelines and client requirements.
• Lead, manage and mentor the commissioning team, and enforce safety procedures and HSE regulations.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to commissioning.
• Monitor milestones and supervise testing and validation of systems and equipment, troubleshooting issues and applying corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations, and report progress to senior management and clients.
• Allocate and manage resources, train personnel in system operation and maintenance, and create accurate commissioning documentation.
• Oversee formal handover, monitor quality control against the approved quality plan, and control commissioning budgets and costs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 15 years of experience in commissioning, including at least 5 years in a managerial role on offshore (wellhead jacket) projects.
• Experience managing commissioning on large-scale industrial, oil & gas or power generation projects.
• Proven track record of commissioning complex systems and managing a multidisciplinary team.
• Relevant certifications or training in commissioning, project management or HSE regulations is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of commissioning and startup procedures, equipment testing and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with commissioning software and tools, including scheduling and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication with internal teams, clients, contractors and suppliers.
• Ability to manage budgets, control costs and mitigate risks.
