Project Engineering Lead – Offshore Topsides

About the role

A major oil and gas operator is looking for a Project Engineering Lead for its MP Topsides/Offshore Platforms, based on site in Ras Laffan, Qatar. Airswift is recruiting on behalf of the client; the role is a long-term contract, starting as soon as possible (typically within 1 month's notice), on a 6-day week of 8-10 hours per day or as required by the project.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the activities for FEED, tendering, engineering, procurement, construction, offshore installation and completions (EPCIC) contracts for MP Topsides/Offshore platforms, ensuring deliverables meet the schedule, milestones, budget and technical requirements of the Basis of Design.
• Plan, prepare and coordinate daily project activities in line with the contractual strategy approved by the project manager.
• Assist the project management team in contractual negotiations and in defining the project team organisation, roles and responsibilities from FEED to Ready for Start Up.
• Mobilise enough suitably qualified and experienced personnel to meet project timelines.
• Monitor contractors, subcontractors, consultants and third-party providers, resolve issues, identify risks and review them at prescribed intervals.
• Encourage cost-saving solutions while prioritising safety, reliability and environmental protection, and ensure strict adherence to specifications and standards.
• Build interfaces with other projects and their long-lead item packages, and coordinate with other MP packages.
• Oversee the handover of installations to the Operations Group at Ready for Start Up, preparing the documentation needed for a smooth transition.
• Lead package management for MP Topsides/Offshore Platforms, including long-lead items, tracking procurement status, vendor deliverables and package interfaces.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in project execution, including multiple EPC projects for offshore/topsides/wellhead facilities, from multi-discipline engineering through yard fabrication, transportation, offshore installation and HUC to handover to operations.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience, including acting roles, or overseeing contractor, sub-contractor, service or vendor personnel.
• High awareness of safe working practices across design, construction, pre-commissioning, installation, hook-up and commissioning.
